Job Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must have a fundamental understanding of server hardware and software, as well as excellent knowledge of the Linux operating system. A qualified candidate will also have great problem-solving skills, a desire to take on responsibility and the written and verbal communication skills necessary to explain technical issues to nontechnical audiences.

Having Linux-related certifications is a big plus, like Red Hat, UCP, CompTIA and MySQL. Experience working in cloud environments is preferred. Ideally, candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering, or equivalent work experience.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

- Thorough knowledge and love of Linux operating system. As a true Linux lover knows—Fatal Error: Found MS-Windows System -> Repartitioning Disk for Linux
- Fundamental knowledge of servers/computers hardware and software, DNS and networking fundamentals including diagnostics with Linux tools
- Inherent problem-solver with desire to learn and take on responsibilities
- Requires approximately 5+ years working in a computer technical field and 3+ years experience in an enterprise server environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate technical issues to nontechnical and technical audiences
- Technical certifications including Red Hat, UCP, CompTIA and/or MySQL to build excellent knowledge of clustering, My SQL, network fundamentals, DNS and Shell scripting
- Due to the 24x7 operations of the business, Engineers will be required to provide on-call coverage overnight and on weekends and holidays.

In a typical day, you will:

- Work with bleeding-edge technology in the cloud computing space
- Teach customers “how to fish” while advising on technical issues
- Collaborate with fellow administrators, engineers and support team members
- As a mid to senior level administrator or Engineer, mentor administrators while still learning and growing as a team member
- Provide Fanatical Support® in all interactions
- Install, configure, update and troubleshoot issues including DNS, VLANs, port connections, trunking, routing, firewalls, Cisco ASA and PIX firewalls (as well as other devices), VPNs and load balancers (including F5)
- Serve as the highest standard level of escalation as an Engineer

Required Qualifications:

- CCNA required ; additional certifications required for Engineers
- Implement, configure/modify, and troubleshoot switches, routers, VLANs, port connections, trunking, VPN configurations, firewalls (Cisco ASA, Cisco PIX and Juniper SRX) and load balancers (Cisco CSS, f5 and Brocade ADX)
- Utilize Intrusion Detection concepts and applications; Preferred platform is Alert Logic
- Recognize, mitigate and troubleshoot DDOS attacks
- Recognize and remediate network issues up to and including the server OS level (Linux or Windows)
- Inherent problem-solver with desire to learn and take on responsibilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical and technical audiences

Rockstar (Preferred) Qualifications:

- Multiple technical certifications including CCNA- Security, CCNP, CISSP, CCSP or CCIE to build excellent knowledge of VPNs, load balancing, firewalls and IPSec
- Bachelor’s degree in networking or engineering (strongly preferred for Engineers)
- Experience working in the cloud computing industry

An Automation Engineer is a key element within the Rackspace support infrastructure and are expected to provide a high level of technical support to our customers. An Automation Engineer is the owner of complex automations that enable Rackspace to better serve our customers. Proposes and implements system enhancements that will improve the capabilities, performance and reliability of the automations. Coordinates the order and execution of the development, upgrading, monitoring, testing and servicing the automations. Approves action requests and specifies purchase requirements. Defines, designs and implements automated solutions using the UNIX platform. Responsible for building and supporting automations for deployment, diagnostics and remidiations run on customer devices. This will include bulk and on demand solutions for end user use.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITY:

SUPERVISION: Must have individual drive as majority of team and management may be dispersed to different office locations or traveling to customer/prospect locations.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in business, sales, or marketing. Advanced degree required plus 2-3 years relevant experience following business school. Six or more years of total work experience. Business and customer relationship management background in a technical services industry preferred. Demonstrated success exceeding new business quota with high volume, transactional environments. Channel sales experience a plus.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Intermediate travel of 25% - 30% at steady state, with occasional spikes of 50% or more may be necessary.

Responsibilities:

- Controls call flow for the support team
- Monitors alerts and create tickets accordingly

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the following:

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering related field or equivalent work experience, preferred
- Basic knowledge or familiarity with Web Servers, Backups, RAID, Package Management, Firmware, Directory Services, in a large scale production environment.
- Technical certifications (i.e., RHCE, MCTSRHCT, A+, CompTIA, MySQL, CCNA, and CCIE) and/or demonstrable familiarity with Virtualization, CDN, Patching, HTML, Certifications, and Caching are a plus
- Familiarity with configuration management tools like Chef and Puppet
- Familiarity with large scale, distributed environments
- Good ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work in order to maintain required productivity levels
- Demonstrates basic problem solving abilities, coupled with a desire to take on responsibility
- Possesses good written and verbal communication skills; bi-lingual skills is a plus

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITY:
