Must Have:

- 4+ years of experience in Software Development, Software Testing & Test Engineering.
- 2-4 years of direct programming experience in one or more of Java, Python, Ruby, or C#
- Strong programming, debugging, and problem solving skills
- Ability to quickly learn new languages and development concepts if not already known.
- Ability to work independently, triage issues, and prioritize tasks
- Strong understanding of the Testing process.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, problem solving, interpersonal, and time management skills
- Familiarity with Continuous Integration concepts

Nice to have:

- Familiarity with advanced software/testing methodologies
- Experience with Agile Methodologies (Scrum, XP, Lean, Kanban, etc.)
- Familiarity with Performance Testing
- Experience with Continuous Deployment concepts.

The Platform group in Rackspace Cloud is seeking a Senior Cloud Developer to execute on a new, strategic, product initiative. The opportunity is to come in as one of the founding members of a new team, and take the product off the ground. This is a hands on coding role (80% coding), 20% technical vision/design.

Responsibilities
, Design and implement production grade software at cloud scale
, Partner with QE/Test, Operations and Product management to ensure high quality releases per schedule
, Evaluate technical aspects of competing products
, Propose and build proof of concepts, prototypes
, Provide estimates for development effort

The ideal candidate will have the following characteristics:
, 12+ years of experience in software product development (design, coding, system engineering)
, Demonstrated experience building highly scalable, distributed software systems
, Extensive knowledge of Linux operating system
, Experience building cloud based systems
, Experience with server virtualization and or container technology is highly desirable
, Experience with at least 2 of the following programming languages - Java, Python, PHP, Ruby, C#.

We are looking for a Software Developer in Test who will be testing software for large-scale cloud-based services.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

- 4+ years of experience in Software Development with a focus on Software Quality Assurance and Software Testing
- 2+ years of coding experience in an at least one of the following languages: Python, Ruby, Java, C#, C, or VB Script
- Excellent knowledge of Object Oriented programming
- Strong knowledge of web protocols, networking and systems
- Demonstrated working proficiency of in refactoring code and iterative development
- Demonstrated working proficiency of XML, XSD, Json, WSDL and Soap
- Working knowledge of Cloud Computing concepts
- Ability to work independently, triage issues, and prioritize tasks
- Strong team player
- Strong understanding of Quality Processes
- Excellent written and verbal communication, problem solving, interpersonal, and time management skills

The ideal candidate will have the following:

- Experience with continuous integration and delivery concepts
- Familiarity with advanced software/testing methodologies such as BDD
- Experience with Agile Methodologies (Scrum, XP, Lean, Kanban, etc.)
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
- Requires 5-10 years experience in the areas of test automation development.

Rackspace is looking for a Senior Software Developer with a Linux systems engineering background to work on our large-scale, mail routing infrastructure. This team is responsible for the design, development, testing and deployment of a variety of e-mail routing backend subsystems delivering millions of mission critical messages per day for our growing customer base.

At Rackspace, you will have the opportunity to work with a variety of open source solutions and programming languages. You will also work as part of an Agile team of software developers, systems engineers and testers, designing and developing solutions using the best engineering practices in the industry.

This position is located in Blacksburg, VA, a town in southwest Virginia nestled on a plateau between the Blue Ridge and Allegheny mountains, and is the home of Virginia Tech. You’ll be doing world-class development for a cloud computing leader in a beautiful location with a temperate climate and very little commute time. Relocation is available for this position.

Responsibilities:

- Translate product vision and requirements into software design

- Write clean, maintainable code following best practices (unit testing, source control, continuous integration, automation, design patterns, etc.)

- Debug code and troubleshoot problems

- Collaborate with other developers, QAs/SDETs (software development engineer in test), Operations engineers and Support engineers to ensure smooth rollouts, continual operation and fanatical support of quality software

- Following Scrum methodology, working alongside software developers and product owners

Job Requirements

Must Have:

- 4-8 years overall professional software development experience

- 2+ years of scripting language development experience (Python, Ruby, Perl, etc.)

- 3+ years of experience working in a Linux/Unix development environment

- Experience with relational databases (preferably MySQL)

- Experience with design principles (patterns, cohesion/coupling, S.O.L.I.D.)

- Experience with good engineering practices (test driven development, continuous integration and pair programming, etc.)

- Familiarity with object oriented development principles

- Ability (and enthusiasm) in mentoring less experienced developers

Nice to have:

- Experience developing in Lua

- Familiarity with Internet e-mail protocols (POP, IMAP, SMTP) and e-mail architecture

- Experience working with a large-scale system (100+ servers)

- Experience developing web applications and services
